HYDROCARBON AND SUBSURFACE GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS
Through our tools and diversified expertise of our colleagues Geomega’s services covers almost the complete spectrum of modern subsurface and hydrocarbon exploration activities. Whether it is basin-scale geological-tectonic mapping, tectonic interpretation, sedimentological and evolutional modeling, basin analysis, hydrocarbon system and play fairway analysis or prospect generation, Geomega has helped many of its customers to achieve their exploration goals and to reduce the risks associated with it.
To achieve the exploration goals we routinely perform the following activities:
- Basin and local scale 2D and 3D seismic interpretations
- Geological and petroleum geological modeling
- Quality-controlled, integrated reservoir and subsurface geological mapping based on geostatistical methods
- taking into account seismic horizons, borehole data, fault systems or even gravity anomaly data
- state-of-the-art multivariate interpolation techniques (co-kriking, KED (kriging with external drift))
- Structural analysis, tectonic reconstruction
- Evolutional and sedimentological reconstruction
- Subsidence and maturation history modeling
This knowledge is very important for understanding the details of the given basin or hydrocarbon geological system, which after all is the prerequisite for a successful hydrocarbon exploration. In case of a hydrocarbon exploration, in addition to the basic evolutional events of the basin the complete hydrocarbon system is analyzed, in which analysis and integration of offset well data (producing and dry holes) plays a very important role:
- integration of core, rock geochemical, and fluid genetic data
- knowledge of petrophysical and formation test results and their integration with seismic attributes
- investigating the extent and degree of maturity of source rocks
- investigating and modeling of hydrocarbon migration pathways
- post-mortem analysis, investigating the reasons of failure for dry holes
- play fairway analysis
- delineating prospects and leads
- probabilistic reserve calculation according to industry standards
- exploration risk assessment, prospect ranking
Important part of our projects include independent evaluation and preparation of expert opinions about hydrocarbon exploration portfolios as well as integrated geological-geophysical reevaluation and field development plan construction for producing assets.
We have achieved significant results in these types of projects, several successful development wells have proven the correctness of the new geological models developed using our methodology. These models are always based on complex seismic, geological and geophysical evaluations using all available geological and production datasets.
