Database building

The prerequisite of a professional subsurface exploration (being shallow, deep or even hydrocarbon) is the availability of a digital database containing high quality, well-organized and credible data. Being aware of this, Geomega collects and builds database systems being most suitable for the Clients’ needs. Our experts have large experience in building, quality controlling, transformation and loading (into interpretation softwares) of such databases.

To successfully conduct any type of subsurface exploration, Geomega considers it essential to build a quality controlled, first class integrated project in all cases. As the result of this the typical data issue are eliminated during data collection and integration, which provides a trouble-free work throughout the subsequent phases.

We have large experience in handling huge datasets often required for the projects, in fact, we have our own proprietary geological-geophysical database of Hungary (DiPex), which we use extensively.

Beyond collecting fundamental geological-geophysical datasets, our company also provides data integration and project building services. We have large experience in building projects of any size, ranging from those containing only few 2D seismic lines, to those including multiple data types (e.g. gravity maps, GPS tracks, aerial photography, pre-stack seismic data) and many 3D seismic cubes.

We have developed several tools and methods during the years to convert and make compatible our digital datasets of our Clients, which makes us capable of loading practically any type of data into the projects.

Our project building services, however, are more than mere data loading. The quality controlled and unification steps applied during and after data loading make it sure, that the loaded data are consistent allowing our Clients to focus on only interpretation after the project is delivered.

Our services related to project building:

  • Coordinate transformation of boreholes, grids, maps, seismic navigation files into a common coordinate reference system, which is inevitable in case of datasets available in different projection systems
  • Reparation of corrupt SEGY files, SEGY unification: seismic resampling, writing coordinates into a common place within the header
  • Merging of 3D seismic data cubes with rebinning and phase correction
  • Mistie analysis of seismic sections: vertical misalignment correction of seismic dataset due to different processing and seismic reference datum, unification of the seismic reference datum and phase of seismic datasets
  • Conversion of various types of well logs (LAS, LIS, DLIS, txt)
  • Merging fragmented well log sections, unified naming conventions

In Geomega we are routinely providing data room services for the business partners of our Clients. During preparation of the data room we systematize both the paper and digital geological-geophysical data available in the project of our Client. These services are however more than merely providing access to the office, the workstations and the softwares. We are committed to organizing and fully executing the data room visits, and are keen to offer our experience and expertise to help ensure that the project is presented smoothly. During the visits, we keep our Clients’ interests in mind in all respects, and continue to work closely with the partners after the visits.

An extensive project of complex geological problem may require multiple and multi-level data reconciliation. To satisfy these needs we create virtual data rooms from the digitally available datasets, into which the borehole, geophysical and interpreted geological data are loaded. We continuously manage this and keep it up-to-date, in order to reflect the latest version of the project.

Visitors and their partners, using the provided passwords, can access all digital datasets of the given project any time, in fact they can upload their own data and interpretations. This enables extremely efficient and quick data sharing and communication without the need for frequent visits to Budapest.
